MARIAN ELIZABETH EDWARDS JEWELL 4/12/25 – 11/24/18 Marian was born in Athens, Georgia, raised in Miami, Florida and attended Edison High School. She was a student at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville where she met her future husband, Buford Jewell. In college, she sang with a women's trio, travelling throughout the Southeast and was editor of the Darda Yearbook. She graduated in 1947, married Buford and they made their home in Nashville. She worked as a secretary for the electric company, worked for Benson Publishing doing yearbook lay-outs, and was in a trio, The Moonlighters, who sang back-up on albums for Christian artists. Later in life, she was secretary for the Education Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene for a number of years, retiring in 1990. She drove for Bill's Chauffer Service, eventually buying it, renaming it Car and Chauffer Service, managing and driving until 2013. Marian was an artist, participated in competitions and won ribbons, was commissioned to do paintings and sold them at art festivals. Marian was a strong supporter of Trevecca through the years, a member of the T Club, supporting Trevecca athletics. She attended all home basketball games with the last one a couple of weeks before her death. She had served as Alumni Representative to the Board of Trustees 1985-1988, and proof read for the Alumni office publications for years. Marian was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, sang in the choir, was the first female Sunday School Superintendent and served on the church board. She was a member of The Pate Sunday School Class. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Mae and J.C. Edwards, sisters, Nona Owensby and Billie Eby, husband Buford M. Jewell, and son, Terry D. Jewell. She is survived by her sons, Lynn M. Jewell, James E. Jewell and daughter Donna Clemens, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home 219 E Old Hickory Blvd., Madison, TN 37115 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 3:00 pm in Heritage Chapel of First Church of the Nazarene 510 Woodland St. Nashville, TN 37206 with Pastor Kevin Ulmet officiating. Visitation in the Woodland St. foyer from 1:30 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Buford M.
