Rebecca Faye Cook, age 79, entered her eternal rest April 24, 2023 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1943 in Old Hickory, TN, the daughter of Osborn Stephens and Sadie Bell Denson Stephens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Billy Joe Cook; sister, Nellie May Deckard; brothers, Joe, Alfred Lee and Tommy Stephens; daughter-in-law, Dayna Cook. She is survived by her children; Pam Irwin, Gary Cook and Carl Smith; 4 Grandchildren, Amelia (Rob) Bacon, William (Alyssa) Pearce, Jonathan Cook, Colin Cook; 3 Great Grandchildren; Karleigh, Elliott Rose and Sterling.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Cook was a bus driver for Sumner County schools for 20 years, Special Education assistant, cleaned houses and was a Nurses Aid at Imperial Manor. She possessed a kind and helpful spirit and she also had a great sense of humor. She was always actively involved in the lives of her family, friends and church. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress who made clothes for her children and grandchildren. She also did custom work on the costumes of some of the Grand Ole Opry stars. She was a woman of great faith whose favorite chapter in the Bible was Psalm 23.
A Celebration of her life will be held at “We Are Church”, 1501 Hadley St., Old Hickory, TN 37138, Saturday, April 29, 2023, 5:00 PM with Bro. James Burd officiating and also her nephew Bro. Andy Stephens participating in the service. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM the time of the service.
The family requests donations are made ‘In Memory of Mrs. Rebecca Cook’ to her favorite charity St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
