Wiiliam Allen "Toogie" Bill Jones

January 1, 2016 — October 11, 2016

William Allen (Bill) Jones (Toogie) , 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 11, 2016.  He was born in Nashville on March 5, 1933 to Elzora Allen Jones and Martha Ethel Woodward Jones.  He was raised in East Nashville with his four older brothers and his younger twin sisters.    While in high school, Bill enjoyed being a member of the Litton Marching 100. He graduated from high school early to serve in the Navy during the Korean War. He served as a parachute rigger which created a passion for sky diving when he returned.     Bill attended MTSU and served as president of his class for two years as well as being the announcer for the football games. While teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Bill met and married the love of his life Bobbie and they raised four lovely children of whom he was very proud.   Bill was fun loving and generous to a fault.  He enjoyed change as well as fast new cars and brought home many of the latest, greatest new gadgets. He had a variety of jobs during his life time such as photographer, private detective, pipeline right-of-way purchaser and real estate investor. But it was his work finding missing heirs by tracing family genealogy that brought him the most notoriety. This work landed him in the spotlight on several occasions, especially his work with the Howard Hughes Estate. He enjoyed the limelight as he was a natural born leader and public speaker.    After the death of his wife, Bobbie Jones, it became apparent that he had Alzheimer's disease. He moved in with his family and attended the Green Hills Senior Center. He then had to be moved to a full time memory care facility. In spite of the Alzheimer's disease, he remained outgoing, fun loving and also well dressed. Complimenting others was one of his finest qualities which also served to attract people into his company.  Being the character that he was, he always had something going on whether it was a story of his own making or reporting the activities of his beloved and successful children and grandchildren. Bill Jones always had a tale to tell.  He will be greatly missed.   He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Lewis Jones, his daughter Bettie Jones Cobb. He is survived by his sisters; Bettie (Ken) Keator, and Beverly (Vito) Randazzo, his children; Richard (Carol) Jones, Barry (Angela) Jones, Bonnie (Tom) Humphrey, and his grandchildren; Emily (John) Black, Amanda (Cody) Ward , Cammie Jones, Collin Jones, Preston Jones, Franconia Jones, Jim (Katie) Cobb, Richard (Becca) Cobb, Charles Cobb, Catherine Cobb, Page (Travis) Miscia, Kate Humphrey, Thomas Humphrey, Joseph Humphrey; great grandchildren Ainsley Cobb, Aiden Cobb; and his many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
